🎯 1. Start With Your Inner Circle
Begin with the people most likely to support you:
- Parents & family
- Grandparents
- Aunts & uncles
- Neighbors
- Family friends
- Co-workers of parents
Tip: Ask your parents to share your post on their social media pages.
📱 2. Use Social Media the Right Way
- Post at least 2–3 times per week
- Include a photo of you in your uniform
- Share what you are raising money for
- Include the purchase link or QR code
- Thank supporters publicly (when appropriate)
Consistency matters more than posting once.
📧 3. Send Personal Messages (Better Than Mass Posts)
Instead of only posting publicly:
- Send direct messages
- Send personal texts
- Email friends and family directly
A short personal message works best:
“Hi! I’m raising money through the Power Up The Yard Raffle to support my softball season. Would you be willing to purchase a ticket?”
Personal asks convert at a much higher rate.
🗣️ 4. Actually Ask — Don’t Just Post
Many players post once and hope people buy.
Instead:
- Follow up politely
- Ask face-to-face when possible
- Ask at work, school events, family gatherings
If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.
🏢 5. Approach Local Businesses
Local businesses love supporting youth athletics.
Try:
- Restaurants
- Auto shops
- Hair salons
- Insurance agents
- Realtors
- Contractors
Bring:
- A flyer
- Prize information
- Online purchase link
- Be confident and polite.
📊 6. Set a Personal Goal
Don’t just “sell some.”
Set a number:
- 20 tickets
- 30 tickets
- 50 tickets
Track your progress and adjust weekly.
⏰ 7. Don’t Wait Until the Last Week
The most successful sellers:
- Start immediately
- Follow up halfway through
- Push hard during the final week
Early momentum builds confidence.
💬 8. Tell People What It Supports
People don’t just buy prizes — they support players.
Explain that funds help:
- Cover tournament fees
- Reduce player costs
- Support facility and program expenses
- Improve equipment and development
When people understand the purpose, they are more likely to support.
