10U Fall Frenzy (10/10)
Stateline One-Day Shootout
10U Round Robin Rules
The Stateline One-Day Shootout will be played using NFHS Softball Rules with the following exceptions and additions. These rules are designed to keep games moving, provide teams with flexibility, and ensure a fair and enjoyable day of softball.
1. Game Time Limits
- No new inning will begin after 80 minutes.
- Games will have a 90-minute drop-dead time.
- If the 90-minute drop-dead time is reached during an incomplete inning, the score will revert to the last fully completed inning, unless the home team has tied or taken the lead during the bottom half of the current inning.
- The Tournament Director and/or umpire will maintain the official game time.
2. Be Prepared to Play Early
Teams must be prepared to play at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled game time. If the tournament is running ahead of schedule and the field and both teams are available, games may begin early.
3. Home Team
The home team will be determined by a coin flip at the home plate meeting prior to each game. The winner of the coin flip will have the choice of being home or visitor.
The home team will be responsible for keeping the official scorebook.
4. Batting Order & Lineups
Teams may choose to use either a continuous batting order or a straight nine-player batting order.
The option being used must be announced at the home plate meeting before the game and may not be changed during that game.
- Continuous Batting Order: All players listed in the batting order will bat in that order throughout the game. Free defensive substitutions will be allowed.
- Straight Nine: If a team chooses to bat nine players, all NFHS substitution, re-entry, and lineup rules must be followed.
Teams may choose a different lineup option for their next game.
5. Courtesy Runners
When using a continuous batting order, the last completed out may be used as a courtesy runner for the pitcher or catcher.
When using a straight nine-player batting order, NFHS courtesy runner rules will apply.
6. Pool Games May End in a Tie
Pool-play games may end in a tie. No extra innings will be played during pool play.
7. Mercy Rule
The following run rules will be used:
- 12 runs after 3 innings
- 10 runs after 4 innings
- 8 runs after 5 innings
8. Pool Play Seeding
At the conclusion of pool play, teams within each pool will be seeded #1 through #3 using the following criteria, in order:
- Win/Loss Record
- Head-to-Head Result — when two teams are tied
- Fewest Runs Allowed
- Run Differential — runs scored minus runs allowed
- Most Runs Scored
- Coin Flip
Three-Team Tie: If three teams have identical records, head-to-head will only be used if one of the tied teams defeated both of the other tied teams. Otherwise, the tiebreaker will begin with fewest runs allowed and continue through the criteria listed above until the teams are seeded.
9. Final Crossover Games
Following pool play, teams will play the corresponding seed from the opposite pool:
Pool A #1 vs. Pool B #1
Pool A #2 vs. Pool B #2
Pool A #3 vs. Pool B #3
The #1 vs. #1 game cannot end in a tie. If tied after regulation or when the no-new-inning time has been reached, the International Tiebreaker (ITB) will be used until a winner is determined.
The #2 vs. #2 and #3 vs. #3 games may end in a tie.
10. Team Check-In
Each team must provide the following at check-in prior to its first game:
- Proof of team insurance
- Team playing roster
11. Weather & Schedule Adjustments
The Tournament Director has the authority to alter game times, time limits, field assignments, tournament format, or the schedule when weather, field conditions, or other circumstances make adjustments necessary.
Every effort will be made to provide teams with their scheduled number of games.
12. Sportsmanship
Good sportsmanship is expected from players, coaches, and spectators at all times.
Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players, coaching staff, and spectators. The Tournament Director and umpires have the authority to remove anyone whose behavior becomes inappropriate or disruptive.
13. Tournament Director
Any situation not specifically covered by these rules will be handled using NFHS rules and the judgment of the Tournament Director.
All decisions of the Tournament Director regarding tournament administration, scheduling, weather-related adjustments, and interpretation of tournament-specific rules are final.
